Can I upgrade a Direct TV package?

Usually when you sign up for DirecTV you must sign at least a 1 year contract. That being said if you call DirecTV they will almost always allow for you to upgrade your package to a higher priced one without any penalty. The same cannot be said about downgrading a package.
