Brit milah for children of Jews-by-choice?

I am considering the idea of converting to Judaism - and I would like my kids to be Jewish in the future. I have a 2 year old son. I do not want him to go through brit milah at this age or later because he would go through total anesthesia and might have serious complications. Did you have a similar experience? If yes, please tell me your story. Thanks
