Why do alligators hurt people?
Alligators normally fear people and don't want anything to do with us. But when people start feeding alligators, they lose their fear of us. They then ociate all people with food. They will come up and possibly attack someone, and then unfortunately, the alligator gets put down even though it was some person's fault. They also attack because people like to harr them because they think it's funny. Alligators do not see people as a food item. American alligators prefer smaller food items such as fish, birds, and rodents. If people would leave them alone, they would leave us alone. I saw an actaul newspaper article where some idiot thought he could be the Crocodile Hunter by jumping on a gator's back. The gator tried to get away, and he kept jumping on it and the gator bit him and broke his hand. This stupidity is why people get attacked.
